The Symbiosis Centre for Nanoscience and Nanotechnology (SCNN) was established to conduct cutting-edge research in nanotechnology and translate scientific discoveries into practical solutions. SCNN has successfully established five state-of-the-art laboratories for advanced nanomaterial synthesis, characterization, bioprocess, point-of-care diagnosis, and photonics.

The center's focus areas include low-cost energy, affordable healthcare, and optical sensors. SCNN fosters interdisciplinary collaboration, partners with academia, industry, and government, and promotes awareness of nanotechnology's societal implications.
Know MoreSymbiosis Centre for Medical Image Analysis (SCMIA)
As Medical Imaging has entered into an Artificial Intelligence and Computational Imaging era, there has been an increased impetus to understand and quantify the complex information embedded within biomedical images. Modern computational methods involving machine learning and deep learning algorithms offer the potential for extracting diverse and complex information from imaging data. This helps researchers to precisely quantify the physical and physiological information of the imaged tissue and, therefore, overcome the limitations of subjective visual interpretation. Predictive computational models can find imaging patterns that relate to pathologies as well as aid treatment planning.

These techniques, supported by emerging artificial intelligence and machine learning domains, are an invisible aspect of modern clinical studies. SCMIA’s objective is to conduct translational biomedical research with a focus on medical imaging. The broader objectives of SCMIA are the development of novel computer-based image analysis methods and their application to a variety of clinical research studies as applicable to India population and in line with WHO’s SDGs and GoI’s Vikasit Bharat 2047 initiatives. SCMIA is a a translational research center that generates tools and techniques to help clinicians and surgeons in optimal decision-making and also help in early diagnosis and understanding of the underlying pathology.
