Circulation of Books & Borrowing Facility
Faculty and staff can enrol them as library members by filling the membership application form & submit the same to the circulation counter. Books can be borrowed only against the institutional ID card issued by the university. The member should present his/her library card for borrowing books, failing which the library staff can reuse to issue books to him/her. The borrowing privileges are varies from library to library. Library Advisory Committee of the Institute have to decide number of books to be issued and its loan period depending upon the number of books available and number of students.

- An overdue charge of Rs. 2.00 per day per volume will be collected for returning the books after the due date borrowed by them. Overdue charges policy is to be decided by the Library Advisory committee of the respective Institute.
- Member shall check the physical condition of the book while borrowing from the library. In case any thing missing, pages torn it should be reported to the counter immediately.
- Member shall not borrow defective / damaged books.
- The Loan period may be shortened by the librarian if the books are on special demand.
- A member can reserve a book which is issued to other member. The reservation can be done online in the OPAC system.
- The Librarian reserves the right to recall any books from any member at any time.
- Loss of book should be immediately reported to the Circulation counter in writing to avoid fine.
- Taking No-Dues from Library is mandatory to all the members.
- Transfer of Books is not permissible.
Books Not for Circulation
Reference Books, Serial Publications, Reserve Books, Thesis & Dissertations, CD/DVD, Loose issues & Bound volumes of periodicals, special collection books. However this material will be accessible within the library.
Loss of Books
Loss of book by the borrower should be reported to the Circulation counter immediately to avoid misuse and fine.
Further, the borrower shall either replace the same copy of the book or its latest edition within 15 days or pay the current cost of the book latest edition.
If the book is from multi volume set is damaged or lost, the member shall be liable to replace the whole set or pay 4 times the cost of the volume lost by member if the single volume is not available.
User Education
SIU Central Library being the service provider, arranges the user education programme for the Students / Faculty of SIU. In this programme, we educates about the system and services of the library. Apart from this, different topic which are related to users research / academic work is also covered in this programme from time to time.
New Arrivals
Every month, New Arrival List is generated based on the processed books last month and journals received on different dates in the last month. The list of new arrivals (Books & Journals) is sent to all the member of SIU Academic Community to inform about the availability of new books and Journals in the library.
Books and Journals are displayed in the display area in the Library. During display period, any member of the library reserve the book to issue, once the books are sent to shelf. You can check online new arrival through Library OPAC also.

Steps in availing DDS Services

Search the entire collection of e journals by logging on to library portal www.library.siu.edu.in

Among the searches, please click top expand the abstract. If the full text is available, then you will get a box “Full Text”. Click on this button to download full text.

If the full text is not available, then please sent the link of the required document to reference@siu.edu.in through your official email ID.

If the required document is available in any of SIU Institutions or its associated institute you will receive the full text article by email from library within 4 working days.
If the article is available only in print form, then library will receive the photocopy of the article. This will be passed on to you later on.

Inter Library Loan of Books
Studying at SIU means that you are not restricted to one library for your research. Our all Institutional libraries, DELNET, British Council Library, Pune and Jaykar Library,SavitribaiPhule University, Pune are open to our students. Please contact Circulation Desk to avail this facility.

Access to all the procured e-resources is provided to faculty/staff /students through the Library Gateway Portal
Reference and E- Press Clipping Services
- Articles and press clippings on education, telecom and management are provided through email to all faculty, directors, and librarians on a daily basis.
- Reference assistance provided by the library includes
- Assistance in location of library materials, use of the catalogue, use of computers to access information and the use of basic reference sources
- Information for retrospective searching, current awareness, and selective dissemination of information required for academics/research.
- Assistance in accessing e-journals, databases, multimedia sources.
Reprographic
Reprography service is available on demand.
The requesting library/individual will have to follow the copyright regulations. They cannot request for copies of entire journal issue or a theses/dissertation or a book.
Users can request for photocopies of articles from the print journals or a chapter in a book or a few pages in thesis available at SIU Central Library. The library reserves the right of denying the photo copies.
