Symbiosis International University (SIU) is committed to fostering social responsibility and environmental awareness among its students.
To align with its mission, all undergraduate programs incorporate a mandatory four-credit service learning course. Students actively engage in various social initiatives, including education, community health, women empowerment, and environmental conservation.
Beyond healthcare, SIU has conducted legal aid clinics, financial and legal literacy drives, and health education sessions for the community. Students have actively participated in these initiatives, contributing to their own development and the betterment of the villages.
SIU has also undertaken projects aligned with national priorities, such as sustainable development goals, microfinance, social entrepreneurship, women empowerment, and civic engagement. Students have received recognition for their work in areas like menstrual hygiene management and the Right to Education Act.
SIU has established the Symbiosis Community Outreach Program and Extension (SCOPE) department to oversee and facilitate these activities.
SCOPE has adopted 35 underserved villages near the university campus and two urban sites to provide essential services.
Through initiatives like Family Doctor Clinics and Mobile Medical Units, SIU has provided healthcare services to over 70,000 patients, including treatment for communicable and noncommunicable diseases.

Through its various social initiatives, SIU has made a significant impact on the adopted villages, addressing issues related to animal welfare, water, sanitation, hygiene, geriatric care, advocacy, and rural development. As a result of its efforts, the university has received a grant under the Unnat Bharat Abhiyan scheme of the Government of India.
