Dr. Rajiv Yeravdekar graduated from the prestigious B. J. Medical College, Pune in 1985, securing top honours in General Surgery & Obstetrics & Gynaecology. He completed his Masters in Obstetrics & Gynaecology in 1989 & was awarded the Gold Medal by Pune University for his outstanding academic performance. He has been awarded PhD under the Faculty of Management by University of Pune.

Dr. Rajiv topped the list of successful candidates of the Maharashtra Public Service Commission and joined the B. J. Medical College, Pune.

Director's Message

Dr. Anuradha Vaidya began her research career after receiving a Master’s degree in Health Sciences from the University of Pune, after which she got an opportunity to work at the National Centre for Cell Science (NCCS) in the field of Stem Cell Biology. Immediately after receiving a doctoral degree, Dr. Vaidya became affiliated with the brand “Symbiosis”.

She has been associated with SSBS since its establishment in August 2011. In October 2022, she has been entrusted with the challenging role of “Director” of SSBS. Dr. Vaidya is well known stem cell biologist, and her current research focuses on understanding the microenvironment-mediated regulation of hematopoietic stem cells (HSCs) and the potential use of the mesenchymal stromal cell (MSC) secretome as “cell-free biologics” in the treatment of neurodegenerative disorders.

Since her line of work is in stem cells, Dr. Vaidya is also affiliated with the Symbiosis Centre for Stem Cell Research (SCSCR). She believes that SSBS possesses the attributes (Infrastructure, Experienced faculty members, Research areas aligned with National guidelines, Geographical location, Quality of students, and Support of Management) to evolve as one of India's premier Life Science institutes!

Symbiosis School of Culinary Arts and Nutritional Sciences (SSCANS), Pune

Director's Message

Prof. Atul Gokhale is an accomplished hospitality and culinary education specialist with 35 years of experience in India and abroad in the field of teaching, administration, and hospitality industry. He is the founding Director of Symbiosis School of Culinary Arts, a premier Culinary and Hospitality School at Symbiosis International University, Pune India.

He recently completed 20 years in the field of hospitality, culinary and tourism education. An alumnus of IHM Bhubaneshwar, he started his career as Chef with ITDC (The Ashok Group of hotels) based out of New Delhi. He specializes in Italian and Indian cuisine. He has a MBA in Management and is currently pursuing his Doctoral study with Symbiosis International University in the field of Culinary Education on “Developing a maturity model for Culinary Arts Education in India”. He is on the board of the Education Certification Advisory Council (ECAC) of the American Hotel and Lodging Educational Institute (AHLEI), Orlando, USA and also a master trainer for Certified Hospitality Educator (CHE) programme.

He is member of board of studies at Pune University and also on the board of Mumbai University for Hotel Management education. He was a member of core team which designed the NSQF for Hospitality Industry in Bahrain. He presented a paper on “localization of workforce in Hotel and Tourism Industry in Saudi Arabia” at the GCC Nationalization Summit in 2011 held at Dubai. He has done research work in the areas of Vedic and Regional Indian Cuisine, Food History, Recipe Research, Food Flavors and Textures Development.

As an Entrepreneur he has done project consultancies for hotels and restaurants and owned and operated “Pinch of Salt” a corporate catering & consultancy service firm. He is a Member (MIH) of Institute of Hospitality (IoH, UK) since July 2005 and Member Faculty of American Hotel and Lodging Educational Institute, Orlando, USA, since 2006. He is a member of Toastmasters International and is a certified Competent Communicator and Competent Leader. Among other things, he is also a certified Life Coach.

Dr. Sonopant G Joshi has Graduated from prestigious Institute of Nursing Education, J J Hospital, Mumbai, he has two Masters Degrees in Nursing and in disaster management and PhD in management. He is presently working as Professor & HoD Community Health Nursing at Symbiosis College of Nursing, Pune. He has vast teaching, Research and administrative experience. He has written chapters in book published by IGI global publication.

He has written book titled ‘Disaster Management for Health Care Professionals’, which is popular among Nursing and management students. He has published 35 research papers in various National and International Journals of High repute among these his 18 papers are in SCOPUS indexed journals and 3 papers in Web of sciences indexed journal.

Considering his research experience, he is nominated as member secretary of Institutional Ethics committee of SIU since 2017 under the chairmanship of Dr. Raman Gangakhedkar He has presented papers in International Conference at Dubai and London. He was invited speaker in International Conference at LONDON on topic ‘Challenges of Higher Education in India’ in Oct 2018. He has visited Kent State University, USA to attend workshop on Simulation Based Nursing Education in July 2019.

He has completed funded research project in 2019. His research contribution was well appreciated by Trained Nurses Association of India and honoured with Appreciation Award Nurses Researcher by Pune city branch in 2012. He is life member of various professional organizations. Presently he is Ph. D supervisor of Symbiosis International University under public Health domain, and 8 Ph. D scholars are guided him including 4 international students from Yemen, South Africa and UK.

Director's Message

Dr. Parag Rishipathak is the Director of the Symbiosis Centre for Health Skills (SCHS), holds a PhD in Emergency Medical Services, and has a rich teaching experience of 19 years. He is International Training Centre Administrator of American Heart Association (AHA), USA. It is the fruit of his immense hard work, passion, and dedication that SCHS has received Global Recognition “Gold” Award consecutively for three years in succession.

He is also the Chapter Coordinator of International Trauma Life Support (ITLS), USA, Site Coordinator of Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS), and the Course Coordinator of the Royal College of Surgeons, England. Under his guidance, SCHS has also collaborated with the Neurocritical Care Society (NCS), USA, to conduct Emergency Neurological Life Support (ENLS) courses and with the American Academy of Family Physicians (AAFP) to conduct Basic and Advanced Life Support in Obstetrics (BLSO & ALSO) courses.

9000 Emergency Medical Service Providers in Maharashtra Emergency Medical Services project,1500 Emergency Medical Professionals in Delhi Emergency Medical Services project and 1000 Police personnel of Madhya Pradesh working with Dial 100 project who attend emergencies as first responders have been trained by SCHS.

Director's Message

Dr. Nayana Nimkar is currently the Director at Symbiosis School of Sports Sciences at Symbiosis International University Pune. She holds a Doctorate in Physical Education from Mumbai University and has previously worked as a PhD Guide with Savitribai Phule University of Pune (SPPU).

She holds three master degrees from Pune University in (M.Ed.) Education, (M.Ed.) Physical Education and (M.Phil.) Education. She has also completed 5 credits from Springfield University Massachusetts, in USA (1981) in ‘Psychology of Sports’ (under the MS Sports Program). She has represented the state in several sports at various reputable levels in her earlier times.

She has worked on several National committees like the Steering committee for Sports of the 11 th and 12 th Planning Commission of Government of India, she has also worked for NAAC (National Assessment and Accreditation Council) and NCTE (National Council for Teacher Education) as a peer committee member. She has represented India on professional bodies like ACESS (Asian Council for exercise and Sports Science) and NAPESS (National Association for Physical Education and Sport Sciences). She has been a keynote speaker in several conferences and has several publications to her credit. Her academic and administrative experience is of 38 years, which started with Maharashtriya Mandal’s Chandrasekhar Agashe College in Pune, which she headed for 20+ years.

She also held prestigious positions as Director, Board of College and University Development (SPPU) and as founder HOD of the Department of Physical Education (SPPU) where she was awarded the Best Principal’s award. When asked about the source of her energy and enthusiasm, she says that “…making fitness and physical education a part of the routine of a common man is my real source of inspiration and my relentless drive towards excellence”. This is so much in consonance with the ‘Fit India Movement’, which was launched a couple of years back by our Prime Minister.

The urge to contribute to the field of sports, be it sports management, sports science, sports technology or making sports available for the not so privileged is what drives Dr. Nayana Nimkar to run the Symbiosis School of Sports Sciences with the ultimate zeal and definitive purpose.

Director's Message

An accomplished professional with over two decades of experience in the healthcare industry, Dr. Sammita Jadhav holds the position of Director of Symbiosis Institute of Health Sciences. She serves as a resource person on the National task force of the National Initiative of Allied Health Services (NIAHS), under the MoHFW, Government of India.

Her exceptional qualifications include graduating from the renowned B.J. Medical College, Pune, where she excelled in Pathology. She pursued her Masters in Medicine and obtained a Ph.D. in Healthcare Management from Symbiosis International (Deemed University) within the Faculty of Medical and Health Sciences. She has been instrumental in establishing the Symbiosis University Hospital and Research Centre, a state-of-the-art healthcare facility comprising 900 beds, and the Symbiosis Medical College for Women in Pune.

As a Ph.D. Supervisor Dr. Jadhav guides eight Ph.D. scholars, emphasizing her dedication to research. Her work has been recognized through numerous research publications in esteemed National and International Journals indexed in Scopus and Web of Science.

Lt. Col (Dr) Vijaya Sagar (Retd.) is an experienced Professor with a demonstrated history of working in the higher education industry for more than 25 years with skills in Policy Analysis, Clinical Research, Emergency Management, Clinical Trials, and Science. Being aware of the fact that the medical education of the millennium is rapidly undergoing a paradigm change, the Symbiosis Medical College for Women, under his able guidance is driven by the passion to ensure that the outgoing under graduate medical professionals are globally competent.

With the institutional philosophy ‘Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam’ in the backdrop, the SMCW is committed to make exemplary medical citizens who are socially and ethically driven. After serving the Indian Army Medical Corps for 24 years, primarily as a teacher of Human Anatomy at the Armed Forces Medical College Pune and Army College of Medical Sciences, Delhi Cantt, New Delhi, he had teaching stints at Goldfield Medical college in Faridabad and Azzezia Medical College in Kollam, Kerala, Sri Ramachandra University, Chennai as Head of Dept. of Anatomy.

Apart from teaching anatomy there, he was instrumental in setting up the complete MOODLE LMS of the University, faculty training and multiple faculty development programs for skilling of teachers in use of LMS and academic e-content creation. Development funded National programme on Technology Enhanced Learning. As part of this responsibility, he was instrumental in setting up the Swayamprabha AV studios where video lectures in Human Anatomy are recorded and broadcast on Direct to Home Swayamprabha Educational TV channel of the Govt. of India.
