Department Of Sports Recreation And Wellness (DSRW)
Sports and Games are essential components of human resource development, helping to promote good health, comradeship and spirit of healthy competition which in turn has positive impact on holistic development of personality of the Youth who is potential source of energy, enthusiasm and inspiration for development, progress and prosperity of a Nation. Symbiosis International (Deemed University) established its University Sports Board in 2010 and the Department of Sports, Recreation & Wellness was established in 2019.
The DSRW particularly is responsible for the development of sports infrastructure, participation in sports at grass-root level, fitness testing for staff and students as well as excelling at National Sports Tournaments.Our emphasis is on Physical Literacy for our students, faculty and staff for lifelong improvement in their quality of life. The Department provides access to state of art playfields and Gymnasiums at all campuses, fitness and wellness programs, multiple group classes, sports competitions and counselling.

These activities provide the variation and challenge that everyone is looking for and include - Sports dating (Exercising with a person of your choice), Activitybreaks (Short Rhythmic activities 5-7mins in academic meetings ,conferences in offices etc.), Yoga Pop ups on the screen , Stair Snacking (using the stairs to improve fitness), 10,000 steps challenge and the 108 days Yoga challenge .
There is no doubt that physical education & sports make more effective contribution to the inculcation of fundamental human value as underlying the full development of people. Symbiosis International (Deemed University) is providing in-house sports facilities for all the students and staff so that they get opportunity to develop the abilities, will power and self-discipline. University Sports Board will also contribute to the maintenance and improvement of health, provide a wholesome leisure time occupation and enable students to overcome the drawbacks of modern living. Objectives of the SIU Sports Board
- To organize workshops, seminars on sports and fitness related subjects.
- To recognize talent in sports and reward young women and men, achieving excellence in sports.
- To offer sports scholarship, prizes and other awards to outstanding athletes and sportsmen and women.
- To review the progress on developing, maintaining and optimally utilizing sports and fitness infrastructure.
- To advice on providing equal opportunities and encourage students and staff to participate in sports and fitness activities.
- To advice on creating a culture of sports by imbibing higher moral and Ethical values, spirit of comradeship and the desire to excel.
- To annually organize Symbiosis International (Deemed University) / Inter institute competitions in specified games and sports for the students & staff.
- To advice on promoting excellence in sports by encouraging participation in National and International championships in large numbers.

Download Event Calendar 2024-2025
Link- The Sports Calendar is designed keeping in view the dates and list of Holidays for constituent Institutes of SIU and it also depends upon the calendar of National University Games issued by the Association of Indian Universities. Thus the Tournament dates or the Tournaments may change as per the AIU Calendar.
- In case of students having excellent track record in any individual sports other than listed above can approach sports board through the Sports Coordinators of their respective Institute. Their selection in particular sports will depend on the decision taken by the Selection committee appointed by the sports board.
- All Inter Institute Tournaments will be held as per the Event Calendar prepared by the Sports Board.
- Sports board reserves the right to change the dates of Tournaments in case of any unavoidable reasons with due information to all participating Institutes and Sports coordinators.
