Post Graduate Programmes

Symbiosis National Aptitude Test (SNAP Test) is the gateway for Post Graduate Programmes of Symbiosis International (Deemed University).

A candidate aspiring to join an MBA programme offered by any Institute of Symbiosis International(Deemed University) [SIU] has to take the common, mandatory Symbiosis National Aptitude (SNAP) Computer Based Test (CBT).

The candidate needs to:
a)Register for SNAP Test,
b)Pay the registration fee for SNAP Test,
c)Register for her/his choice of programme(s) offered by any Institute of SIU,
d)Pay the registration fee, separately for each programme.

If shortlisted for a programme applied to, the candidate would then need to participate in the further admission process (GE-PI) of that particular programme.

The registration process (including the payment of the registration fee) for SNAP and Institutes is integrated. A candidate can complete the SNAP as well as programme registration (as well as pay the registration fee) on the same portal (snaptest.org)

Symbiosis Entrance Test (SET Test) is the gateway for Under Graduate Programmes of Symbiosis International (Deemed University).

Candidates aspiring to join any of the following:

  • B.B.A. - Honours / Honours with Research

programmes offered by institutes of Symbiosis International (Deemed University) have to appear for the common, mandatory Computer Based Test(s) (CBT). Since 2018, “SET – General” is known as Symbiosis Entrance Test (SET), “SET – Law” test is known as Symbiosis Law Admission Test (SLAT) and “SET – Engineering” as SIT Engineering Entrance Exam (SITEEE). These are conducted in Computer Based Test (CBT) mode across various cities of India.

SIU announces the four-year degree programme with multiple entry and exit options as envisioned in the NEP 2020*. The highlights of the new programme offerings are as under

  • The Programme framework allows exciting options to pursue single major, double majors, minors, opportunity to pursue multidisciplinary, Ability and Skill enhancement courses.
  • Offers a good blend of immersive learning, research and community engagement
  • Includes opportunities for semester exchange programmes with foreign universities
  • Offers the following exit options
    a) A Certificate at the end of the first year of the programme with 44 credits
    b) A Diploma at the end of the first two years of the programme with 84 credits
    c) A UG Degree at the end of 3 years of the programme with 120 credits
    d) A UG Degree with Honours / Research at the end of the 4 years of the programme with 160 credits
  • Offers option of Re-entry within 3 years of exit and 7 years as the maximum permissible period to complete the programme.

* Not applicable for programmes under SLAT and SITEEE.

A candidate needs to register for SET/SLAT/SITEEE 2024 & also register for the institutes offering his/ her choice of programmes by paying separate programmes registration fees. If shortlisted, he/she would then need to attend the further admission process conducted by each of these institutes individually.

Aspirants can now complete the Online SET/SLAT/SITEEE 2024 as well as programme registrations in the same portal (www.set-test.org)

Doctoral Programmes

About Ph.D programmes

Symbiosis International (Deemed University) offers a PhD programme under the guidelines prescribed by the University Grants Commission. The programme is offered under the faculties of Law, Management, Computer Studies, Medical and Health Sciences, Media & Communication, Humanities & Social Sciences, and Engineering.

The University predetermines the number of doctoral students that can be admitted to the programme based on the number of available research guides. The University aims to maintain a high standard in its research, and with this goal in mind, and as per the directives of the Hon'ble Vice Chancellor on recommendation of the Academic Council, the University has followed a specific criteria of selection.

International Student Admissions

International Admissions

Admissions of international students are centralized for all the constituent institutes of Symbiosis International (Deemed University) and are routed through the Symbiosis Center for International Education (SCIE). The admission procedure for foreign students is designed taking into consideration the requirements and difficulties faced by every individual. The online admission procedure has made it accessible to each and every student to apply from different parts of the world and in the comfort of their homes. The student is required to come to India only when the applicant is shortlisted for a particular program chosen by the student. The software has been tailor-made to suit the admission procedure. Through the system of online admissions, students are not only able to check their admission status but also make all their payments online.

SCIE earmarks 15% of the total intake of the respective program for international students which include, Foreign Nationals (FN), Person of Indian Origin (PIO) Card Holders, Overseas Citizens of India (OCI) Card Holders, and Non-Resident Indians (NRI).

Foreign National (FN):

A student is eligible to apply as a Foreign National (FN) if he/she is a citizen of any country other than India and holds a foreign passport.

Person of Indian Origin (PIO):

As per the Government of India Notification dated 9th January 2015, all the existing ‘Persons of Indian Origin’ card holders registered as such shall be deemed to be Overseas Citizens of India card holders (OCI).

Overseas Citizenship of India (OCI):

A student is eligible to apply as OCI if he/she is granted with Overseas Citizenship of India and has an OCI card.

Non Resident Indian (NRI):

In case of Undergraduate programs:

A student is eligible to apply as a Non Resident Indian (NRI) if he/she is an Indian National and has appeared for either 10th or 10+2 (equivalent to the Indian 10th or 12th) examination outside India. It is mandatory for one of the two qualifying examinations to be given outside India.

Admission Criteria for NRI Students:

  • Graduation Transcripts - 80% weightage
  • Entrance Test (SET/SAT) - 10% weightage
  • Statement of Purpose - 5% weightage
  • Two Letters of Recommendation - 5% weightage

Students applying under the NRI category are NOT required to appear for the English Proficiency Test (IELA/IELTS Examination).

Admission Criteria for FN/PIO/OCI Students:

  • Graduation Transcripts - 90% weightage
  • Statement of Purpose - 5% weightage
  • Two Letters of Recommendation - 5% weightage

Students applying as FN/PIO/OCI are required to appear for the English Proficiency Test (IELTS/IELA examination)

In case of Postgraduate programs:

A student is eligible to apply as a Non Resident Indian (NRI) if he/she is an Indian National and has appeared for the 12th examination (equivalent to the Indian 12th) or graduation outside India. It is mandatory for one of the two qualifying examinations to be given outside India.

Admission Criteria for NRI Students:

  • Graduation Transcripts - 80% weightage
  • Entrance Test (SNAP/GMAT) - 10% weightage
  • Statement of Purpose - 5% weightage
  • Two Letters of Recommendation - 5% weightage

Students applying under the NRI category are NOT required to appear for the English Proficiency Test (IELA/IELTS Examination).

Admission Criteria for FN/PIO/OCI Students:

  • Graduation Transcripts - 90% weightage
  • Statement of Purpose - 5% weightage
  • Two Letters of Recommendation - 5% weightage

Students applying as FN/PIO/OCI are required to appear for the English Proficiency Test (IELTS/IELA examination)
