The University offers a variety of programmes at Graduate, Post Graduate, Doctoral and Diploma levels. Programmes are offered in the following eight faculties:
Symbiosis Entrance Test (SET Test) is the gateway for Under Graduate Programmes of Symbiosis International (Deemed University).
Symbiosis Entrance Test (SET) is a common written test for the admission processes of undergraduate Institutes of Symbiosis International (Deemed University) established as under Section 3 of the UGC Act 1956 vide notification No.F.9.12/2001 U.3 of the Govt. of India. In the year 2002 there were 3 constituent Institutes of SIU. Subsequently ten more Institutes of Symbiosis have been brought under the ambit of Symbiosis International (Deemed University) vide notification No.F.9.12/2006-U.3 (A).
It is a mandatory written test for the admission process for the undergraduate programmes of the following Symbiosis Institutes.
A candidate can register for one paper from the morning session; viz, Law or Design and one paper from the afternoon session; viz, General or Engineering or Health Sciences.
For Engineering and Health Sciences, a candidate need not register for SET if he / she wishes to offer scores of entrance tests other than SET [such as JEE(Main)]. Such candidate may apply directly to the concerned institute. (For more details please visit to institute web site.)
Symbiosis International (Deemed University) offers a PhD programme under the guidelines prescribed by the University Grants Commission (2009). The programme is offered in the 8 faculties of Law, Management, Computer Studies, Health Sciences, Media & Communication, Architecture & Design, Humanities & Social Sciences and Engineering .
The University predetermines the number of doctoral students that can be admitted to the programme based on the number of available research guides. The University aims to maintain a high standard in its research, and with this goal in mind, and as per the directives of the Hon'ble Vice Chancellor on recommendation of the Academic Council, the University has followed a specific criteria of selection.
Admissions of international students are centralized for all the constituent institutes of Symbiosis International (Deemed University) and are routed through the Symbiosis Center for International Education (SCIE). The admission procedure for foreign students is designed taking into consideration the requirements and difficulties faced by every individual. The online admission procedure has made it accessible to each and every student to apply from different parts of the world and in the comfort of their homes. The student is required to come to India only when the applicant is shortlisted for a particular program chosen by the student. The software has been tailor-made to suit the admission procedure. Through the system of online admissions, students are not only able to check their admission status but also make all their payments online.
SCIE earmarks 15% of the total intake of the respective program for international students which include, Foreign Nationals (FN), Person of Indian Origin (PIO) Card Holders, Overseas Citizens of India (OCI) Card Holders, and Non-Resident Indians (NRI).
A student is eligible to apply as a Non Resident Indian (NRI) if he/she is an Indian National and has appeared for either 10th or 10+2 (equivalent to the Indian 10th or 12th) examination outside India. It is mandatory for one of the two qualifying examinations to be given outside India.
Admission Criteria for NRI Students:
Students applying under the NRI category are NOT required to appear for the English Proficiency Test (IELA/IELTS Examination).
Admission Criteria for FN/PIO/OCI Students:
Students applying as FN/PIO/OCI are required to appear for the English Proficiency Test (IELTS/IELA examination)
A student is eligible to apply as a Non Resident Indian (NRI) if he/she is an Indian National and has appeared for the 12th examination (equivalent to the Indian 12th) or graduation outside India. It is mandatory for one of the two qualifying examinations to be given outside India.
Admission Criteria for NRI Students:
Students applying under the NRI category are NOT required to appear for the English Proficiency Test (IELA/IELTS Examination).
Admission Criteria for FN/PIO/OCI Students:
Students applying as FN/PIO/OCI are required to appear for the English Proficiency Test (IELTS/IELA examination)
